Congratulations to our 6th grade students completing their years in the elementary!
Weather and School Today, Tuesday, May 21, 2024, 1:00 PM.
Dear Parents, as of the time of this message, the SCSD will maintain its normal end of day dismissal time. We will update you if our weather monitoring indicates a need for a change. We do have a concern about sending students home early with limited adult supervision on these types of days. Please know that our schools remain some of the safest facilities in the community. As a reminder, students may be held at dismissal should a severe weather event happen at that time. Thank you! (Reminder: 11:00 AM dismissal on Thursday.)

Sigourney Elementary celebrated our amazing support staff today! ❤️
he Design Dash was hosted by the University of Iowa Jacobson Institute on Thursday at the Great Prairie AEA in Ottumwa. Mrs. Greiner and Mrs. Caster took a group of 11 to participate in the Design Dash: From Problem to Pitch. Students were encouraged to work on a problem relevant to them-something they care about or something that they are willing to invest energy into during Design Dash. They are asked to brainstorm entrepreneurial ideas/solutions that they believe would address the problem or an aspect of the problem.

Dear Parents, weather forecasts continue to show severe weather passing through our area throughout the evening and into the early morning hours.
The District is canceling all after school practices and student activities for today, Tuesday, April 16, 2024. We will maintain a regular dismissal time for students.
NOTE: If severe weather would arrive at or near a dismissal time, all students would remain in the buildings. They would not be released until conditions have improved. If this should ever happen, our staff will remain and assist all students. Parents in vehicles or outside of the buildings would be invited in. School buildings are often the most structurally strong facilities in a community. Thank you for your cooperation and effort to help us keep everyone safe.
Dear Parents and Guardians,
All after school meets (track, golf, soccer) have been cancelled for today.
The District will continue to monitor the weather and make a decision regarding after school practices by 2:30 PM today.
Thank you!
